Revolutionizing real estate: Liva's journey to empower brokers and delight clients

Liva case cover

Situation

Liva is a Brazilian startup focused on helping real estate brokers improve productivity and deliver better client experiences. Brokers relied heavily on smartphones, but lacked a dedicated mobile app to streamline workflows. The business aimed to create an app that automated key tasks like client registration, property recommendations, lead qualification, and client communications.

Task

I was responsible for designing Liva’s mobile app from the ground up. The goals were:

  • Automate real estate workflows to save brokers time.
  • Provide a streamlined, user-friendly interface to improve broker productivity.
  • Enhance communication channels to increase client satisfaction.
  • Ensure the app aligned with both user needs and business objectives.

Action

To ensure the app met these goals, I carried out a structured design process:

  • Research:
    • Analyzed Google Analytics to review existing user behavior.
    • Conducted user interviews with brokers to identify daily workflow needs.
    • Ran usability tests with MVP prototypes to validate functionality and interface clarity.

  • Ideation:
    • Designed automated workflows (client registration, property recommendations, lead qualification).
    • Developed a clean, intuitive interface that highlighted essential broker information.
    • Built seamless communication features for booking visits and responding to client inquiries.

  • Design & Iteration:
    • Created wireframes and interactive prototypes in Figma.
    • Validated features through interviews and usability testing.
    • Iterated on designs to balance feature richness with usability.

Result

The final design successfully delivered a broker-focused mobile app with the following outcomes:

  • Improved usability through a clear, streamlined interface.
  • Increased broker productivity by automating repetitive tasks.
  • Enhanced communication between brokers and clients for scheduling and inquiries.

Although I left the company shortly after launch and couldn’t measure long-term results, the app was well-received during usability testing and successfully deployed.

You can see the Figma file here. Visit Liva’s website or check out the app on the Play Store. Below, you’ll also find a link to the Figma file showcasing the app’s design.

Reflection and learnings

  • Balancing feature complexity with usability is crucial for adoption.
  • Deep understanding of broker workflows was essential for delivering immediate value.
  • Continuous validation and iteration ensured designs fit real-world needs.
  • Usability is key for mobile apps in fast-paced professional environments.

Future opportunities

  • Implement post-launch feedback loops to refine the app continuously.
  • Use advanced analytics to measure the app’s impact on productivity and client satisfaction.
  • Explore AI-driven property recommendations and enhanced communication tools for brokers.
